An Overview
Wyboo Plantation is a private, gated community with both custom homes and patio homes, and there are building lots for sale in many locations throughout the neighborhood. Wyboo Plantation is located just eight miles south of Manning, South Carolina. This quiet community was sculpted from 650 acres and contains 552 home sites. With a relatively mild winter temperature (average daily highs of 54° and lows of 34°) it certainly offers all seasons for golfing, fishing, gardening and other outdoor activities.
Community amenities include a swimming pool, a 6500 sq. ft. community center, lighted, rubber surfaced tennis courts, pickleball courts, fenced garden plots, easy access to Lake Marion from interior lakes, and a kayak launch dock.
We are close to I-95 which provides us easy access to Charleston, Savannah, and Columbia. Myrtle Beach is only two hours away.
The Lakes
The Santee-Cooper lake system consists of Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie. It was created in by damming the Santee and Cooper rivers and connected the two lakes by a 6 mile diversion canal. It impounds a whopping 160,000 acres of water. The system was finished in 1940 in order to facilitate a hydroelectric plant to serve a vast area of the southeast with electricity. This project has produced enormous interest in fishers, boaters, water sports, and just beautiful settings for home sites and parks. There are numerous campgrounds, boat ramps, marinas, fishing guides, and many other lake businesses located here — probably more than any of the major lakes in South Carolina.

Golf
Meandering through Wyboo Plantation is The Players Course; an 18 hole golf course designed by Ernest Wallace in the early nineties and recently named best golf course and golf shop in Clarendon County. You need but “jump across the street” and find the Wyboo Golf Club, an 18 hole course designed by Tom Jackson. Wyboo GC was recently awarded #16 of the 25 best courses in South Carolina by Golf Advisor. Both courses are characteristically unique and are golf cart accessible from the Wyboo Plantation community. Both courses offer affordable membership and host weekly men’s and women’s leagues, as well as local tournaments.
Fishing
The Santee Cooper reservoirs have long been known as an angler’s paradise and the recent capture of the largest Lake Moultrie blue catfish ever observed (136 lb., 6 oz.) only solidifies this reputation. State records currently held are: Largemouth Bass – 16.2 lb., Black Crappie – 5 lb., along with records for Chain, Shellcraker, Warmouth, Catfish, and Flathead. But the jewel of the Santee-Cooper system is the striped bass which attracts fishermen from all over the country. Lakes Marion and Moultrie are the best freshwater striper fisheries around.
Boating
Many home sites are on Lake Marion with direct access to the “big water”, but Wyboo boaters who live on interior lots are able to access Lake Marion through unique cable driven boat lifts taking their boats from inland lakes and marinas to Lake Marion. Once on the water, boaters have access to the Pinopolis Locks, transporting from Lake Moultrie to the Cooper River, Charleston and the Intracoastal Waterway.
Healthcare
Manning is the home of the Clarendon County Division of the McLeod Health System and is located just 8 miles from our gates. For immediate health services, other than a trip to the emergency room, the Santee Cooper Urgent Care offices are located in Manning just south of the hospital. An EMT station is just outside our gates on Players Course Drive. For those residents needing short term use of medical equipment there is a limited inventory of various fixtures located in our Community Center.
